Introduction To Scarlet Noble

Well, hello there! I’m glad to see that you’ve stumbled upon my blog. You didn’t know this was a blog? Shocking. Truly shocking. But I don’t blame you. Before deciding to put my blog here, I was using Journo Portfolio as a landing page for all my work. I enjoy writing and been published on a few online platforms. But I’ve always wanted to tell my story. Call me a narcissist, but I enjoy telling people, hey, this is who I am.

Let me introduce myself.

I loathe the name they gave me at birth. I do not understand why I wasn’t named “Brittany” or “Amber” or even, “Megan”.

I’ve always loved to write, even as a kid; but there’s a point in your life when you’re no longer a kid. When the path you will walk becomes a little clearer. And I knew the path I wanted to take. The signs all pointed to “Writing Avenue” in bright, neon colors. I knew where I wanted to go, but I didn’t want to get there with my real name embellished on everything. And so, I decided to use a pen name. Many other authors have used a pen name before me, so I thought, why not? Scarlet Noble was born from an intense desire to claim something that people will use more than me. I wanted to like what people called me.

The Origin of My Pen Name

It’s nothing super fantastic; it’s not like I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and knew the name I wanted to claim. To start, I wrote down a list of names- a lot of them taken from the secret identities of my favorite comic book superheroes. But none of them sounded like me. So I started looking to the genre I loved reading and writing- fantasy. The noble archetype is common in the genre, so I started there. Noble became the last name, as I liked the sound of it and the way it seemed to fit with the genre I liked so much. Then I thought of colors associated with fantasy and that specific archetype. I thought of red, then went through the many, many shades of the color until I found one that worked. When I got to Scarlet, something kind of…clicked. And I knew it was perfect; I had my name. Scarlet Noble was born in the year 2019, sometime around March.

My Writing Journey

How did I begin writing? When did I discover that I loved to write? As I mentioned before, I’ve always loved to write, even as a kid. I knew then I wanted to write, but how or where or when was not clear to me. Kids rarely know how they want their lives to go. To kids, the world is Huge and life is Endless and nothing Bad ever happens.

And then you grow up. You grow up and the world screams at you to ignore your passions. Isn’t that weird? In middle school, a teacher told me I should become a nurse because nurses make good money. My parents, while supportive of the fact that I loved to write, wanted me to be on solid ground financially. I wanted in a life build solidly on my passions. In high school, I wrote a notebook full of short stories- and no; I don’t have that notebook. (It also contained my math homework, so I threw it out. Yes, that was stupid. I keep all my short stories now, no matter how awful they are.) After high school, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in writing. And so, not finding a suitable college in my state, I took to looking online. In June 2018, I got a call- I got into a university who also did some of their degree programs online. That August, I start my first term.

I’m still in college pursuing my degree. I’m still writing. I’m bound to make mistakes, fall on my face, and forgot how to spell. But I will write, because what else am I to do? Writing is my life, and words are my blood.

My name is Scarlet Noble. I hope you’ll continue to follow me as my journey progresses. I can’t wait to see where it goes.
